7-03-08 – Principal Photography begins on Sugar Cubism II: El Jefe Filming has begun on DeanSnap’s new short Sugar Cubism II: El Jefe (The Boss). Producer Geoff Dean believes that largely documentary style filming and the film’s short screenplay will allow the team to complete most of the filming by the end of July.
6-28-08 – Sugar Cubism Production Redirected Producers Geoff Dean and Aaron Dewsnap have decided to indefinitely postpone production of Sugar Cubism, and have written a new screenplay for a short film which “retain[s] ties to Sugar Cubism in the forms of certain footage originally shot for it and the inclusion of many of the same characters...” Consulting Producer Tristan Davis said. The entirely new film will require a relatively short shooting schedule and is expected to cost very little to film. “We all think this is a good move, and we are excited about this new short.” said Tristan.
5-8-08 – Donevan Fischer joins the Sugar Cubism Cast Donevan Fischer, best known for his role as Agent Kristo in the films of the same name, will be joining the Sugar Cubism cast in the roll of Johan Makarov. Consuling Producer Tristan Davis is thrilled to be working with Donevan again. He has not been part of an Objective Films project since his small cameo in 2005’s Terminated.
4-30-08 – Sarah Lotfi joins the Sugar Cubim Production Team To be Queen and Tudor Rose Producer Sarah Lotfi has agreed to join the Sugar Cubism Production Team as Casting Director and Executive Producer. Geoff Dean said Thursday that “It’s a pleasure to be working with Sarah Lotfi again, an honor which I have not had since the her 2006 spy thriller Jane Bond II: Shelter.”
3-22-08 – Sugar Cubism Production Dates Locked After a year of rewriting, fundraising, and casting, Director/Producer Geoff Dean has locked the production dates for Sugar Cubism. Principle photography will begin in late May and continue well into late August. 10-15-07 – Sugar Cubism Rewrites Underway The Sugar Cubism screenplay has been undergoing rewrites by Writer Geoff Dean and Consulting Producer Tristan Davis. The story and dialogue are top priority, and current drafts aim to create better flow of story and dialogue.
5-3-07 – First and Final Scenes of Sugar Cubism Filmed The first and last scenes of Sugar Cubism (which take place respectively before and after the main story of the film) have been shot. While production on the rest of the film will not begin for several months because of casting and budgetary issues, Director Geoff Dean wanted to film these key scenes in order to give the cast and crew something to work towards.
3-16-07 – Sugar Cubism Screenplay Completed A working copy of the Sugar Cubism screenplay has been completed. The film is expected to have a running length of about 80 minutes. Producers Geoff Dean and Aaron Dewsnap have picked out the Vail and Telluride Film Festivals as potential first run targets.
12-18-06 – Preproduction on Sugar Cubism Begins Aaron Dewsnap and Geoff Dean have begun writing the screenplay for their new film Sugar Cubism, a mocumentary of sorts about the world of sugar sculpting. Objective Films will be partnering with Geoff and Aaron’s production company DeanSnap Productions to bring the film to life. Though the screenplay is not yet complete, several of the lead roles have already been cast and production is set to begin in late 2007.
3-17-06 – Epic DVD Announced The DVD release of Epic was announced today. It will feature a new cut of the film aimed at smoothing over some rough areas while preserving the spirit of the original cut. Special Features are expected to include an audio commentary from the writers, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, and a blooper reel. Objective Films aims to release the DVD by mid May.
3-17-06 – Epic Submitted to the CSCS Film Festival A rough cut of Epic was screened at the 5th annual CSCS Film Festival, where it received Best Script, Best Actor for Tristan Davis, and Best Supporting Actor for Geoff Dean. “The audience’s reaction was astonishing” says writer/director Tristan Davis “that and the casting are what I found most gratifying about this film... I’m very proud of the entire cast. They’re all extremely creative and each had so much to contribute both on screen and on set. Many of the brilliant little nuances throughout the film are their contributions.” The details of Epic’s future aren’t clear yet, but those involved look to it with a sense of optimism.
10-29-05 – Work Begins on Epic After months of brainstorming between comedic genius Aaron Dewsnap and director Tristan Davis, the first draft of the screenplay for Objective Film’s newest project, Epic, is now underway. If all goes well production will begin in late December and post production will be complete by early February.
9-7-05 – Final Draft Accepted Final Draft has been accepted into the Hawaii International Film Festival’s Student Exhibition. It will be screening along with several other student films in Student Showcase 4.
6-30-05 – Final Draft Completed After three weeks of furious rewriting, filming, and editing, the final cut of Final Draft is complete. The film was a collaboration between Tristan Davis of Objective Films and Todd Fink of Todd Fink Productions, their first joint project since 2004’s Almost, but not quite Agent Kristo II: Twisted Breath. It has been submitted to the Student Exhibition at the Hawaii International Film Fest, and the selected entries will be announced in early September.
